Hickey Photo Series
BY NAOMI BELAY
This photo series focuses on wearing hickeys with pride and having fun with them. My idea for this project was to capture the ephemeral nature of hickeys while portraying how each hickey is remarkably unique on each person and on different skin tones. I wanted to debunk the stigma that hickeys are shameful and the idea that they should be hidden. They’re like small memories and like art, one of the models said; “It’s sort of how people are marked by one another emotionally and like why not mark them with a piece of art that you made them”.
